PALE ALE
6% alc vol

HIGHEST SCORE - VINOS&MAS TASTING- 2006

This beer has medium body and a generous touch of hops. A nice bitterness predominates, being paler than our sweeter Amber Ale.

Food Pairing: This goes well with just about everything. Excellent with spicy foods, since its clean bitterness balances strong dishes. We enjoy it with Japanese food, appetizers, salads, etc. as this Pale Ale stimulates the appetite.

AMBER ALE

BEST CHILEAN ALE - LA CAV 2008

An amber variation from the Ale family, this beer has three times the caramel malt of our Pale Ale.  This provides a much more amber color and a nice touch of residual sweetness, for which  we add extra hops to balance the taste.

Food pairing: red meats, barbecues, certain fishes (tuna, salmon), spicy foods, hamburgers, pizzas, mexican food, chicken, mushrooms, etc.

BEST BEER IN CHILE - LA CAV 2007
BEST CHILEAN BEER - GUIAA DE LA CERVEZA 2008

BEST CRAFT BEER - CHILEVINOS.COM 2008

An extended mash with toasted barley leaves a nice coffee taste, balanced by sweetness from the caramel malt and just the right bitterness. While the Stouts may be famous as a winter beer, this style is great year 'round.

Food pairing.  The classic food match is oyster. However, red meats, spicy sauces, barbecues in general, sushi, smoked fish, chocolate - very versatile beer if you like dark brews!  If the food goes with red wine, particularly a softer wine such as Pinot Noir, try it with our Stout.

RUBIA AL VAPOR
6% alc vol  (AMBER LAGER)

BEST LAGER IN CHILE! (LA CAV 2008)

Normally the lager beers are fermented at low temperatures of 9-11° C (Ales ferment from 20-28° C). However, we ferment our lager yeast in this beer (the same one as for our new Pilsner) at 14 - 15° C, producing a hybrid beer - the hop bitterness of the lager with a slightly fruity characteristic of an ale. Nothing else like it in Chile! The use of caramel malts, something else not common in classic lagers, adds a taste touch unique to this beer.

Food pairing: barbecued meats, strong cheeses, salads, meat in general, seafood, Thai.

STRONG ALE
7.5 % alc vol

BEST CHILEAN BEER - GUIA DE LA CERVEZA 2008

This has been our flagship beer, though it now faces competition from our Stout Fuerte. We mash far more barley malt to obtain the fermentable sugars needed to reach the higher alcohol level. The interaccion between the intense sweetness of the malt and the strong concentration of the hop bitterness makes an interesting combination that changes over time, similar to fine wines .

Food pairing: pork, beef or fish barbecue, strong soups and cheeses, chocolates, or a good Cuban cigar after dinner.  In fact our cigar expert friends tell us that this beer is perfect with cigars, the sweetness interacts with the tobaco tannins.

STOUT FUERTE

This is our interpretation of the famous "Imperial Stout". What differentiates this beer from our 5% Negra Stout, is a more concentrated sweetness balanced by a stronger bitterness, chocolate notes rather than coffee (the Negra Stout is more coffee taste). We also use a different hop strain (Sterling, the same used in our Pilsner).  This gives our Imperial Stout a unique flavoring, a distinct yet smooth bitterness.

Food pairing: Try this with a good beef on the barbecue and spicy foods.  It is an ideal beer to accompany desserts.  Probably not the best beer for white fish.

PILSNER

***NEW

Pilsner is a traditional eastern european style of light colored lager beer, specifically from Czechoslovakia. However in Chile, the "pilsener" style has been associated with watery industrial lagers, and is actually a slang term for bad beer here!

In fairs and tastings our version has been very well accepted by the beer public, so we are launching our Pilsner to help recover this beer variety's good name in Chile.

Instead of using the traditional Saaz hops, we are using a Saaz derivation, Sterling.  Similar, but different.  This is our effort at making a more refresing summer beer, but it still has much more body and taste than the comparable craft and industrial beers.

Unfiltered and bottle conditioned, like all the rest of our beers.

Food pairing:  ¡Goes well with everything and good all-year!
